Preparation method	Six NSCLC cell lines were seeded (~2,000–5,000 cells per well, depending on cell type) onto 96-well plates. After 24 h of incubation, cells were treated with erlotinib (0–20 µmol/L), bevacizumab (0–20 ng/mL) or a combination of these agents (erlotinib 1 µmol/L; bevacizumab 10 ng/mL) for 72 h in serum-containing medium. The viability was determined by MTS assay (Promega, Madison, WI) according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

For example, to modify the dose of resveratrol used for a mouse (22.4 mg/kg) to a dose based on the BSA for a rat, multiply 22.4 mg/kg by the K_m factor for a mouse and then divide by the K_m factor for a rat. This calculation results in a rat equivalent dose for resveratrol of 11.2 mg/kg.

Introduction	Used to treat adrenocortical insufficiency, desoxycorticosterone pivalate is a mineralocorticoid hormone and an analogue of desoxycorticosterone. It primarily acts on the metabolism of sodium, potassium and water. When the drug is given, there is decreased excretion of sodium accompanied by increased excretion of potassium; the concentration of sodium in the blood is thereby increased whereas that of potassium is decreased. There is a concomitant increase in the volume of blood and extracellular fluids, with a fall in hematocrit. It increases the rate of renal tubular absorption of sodium.
